SELANGOR: Four wins from four have given Sarawak’s women’s rugby team confidence, but team manager Faqrul Hafiz Abu Bakar insists the job is far from finished.
Sarawak completed a perfect group-stage campaign with victories over Pahang (26-10), Melaka (19-5), Penang (20-10) and Kelantan (12-10).
The results saw the Kenyalang side advance to the semi-finals, where they will face Terengganu at 10.40am tomorrow at Stadium Sultan Suleiman.
Faqrul said the unbeaten run was the result of the players’ commitment, discipline and belief in one another.
“I’m really proud of the girls. To come through the group stage with wins in every match shows their commitment, discipline and belief in each other.
“But I know this is only one part of the journey,” he said.
With the quarter-finals also completed, Faqrul said the team would now turn its attention fully to the semi-final, stressing the importance of taking the competition one match at a time.
“We came here representing Sarawak with a mission. The group stage is done, the quarter-finals are done.
“Now our focus is on the next challenge, which is the semi-final tomorrow. We focus on one game at a time until the job is finished,” he said.
Sarawak will now look to maintain its momentum against Terengganu as it bids to move one step closer to a place in the final.

Also present to watch the quarter-final were Sarawak Rugby Union (SRU) deputy president Ahmad Yusof Shah and honorary treasurer Ahmed Tarmidzi Madian.
