BAU: Two labourers found themselves in police custody yesterday (Aug 23) after their urine tests came back positive for two types of drugs.
The suspects, aged 23 and 33, were detained after undergoing initial drug screening at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) office.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said both tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, and were arrested under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
An offence which carries a fine of up to RM5,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both, upon conviction.
During preliminary questioning, both men allegedly admitted to abusing methamphetamine about a week before their arrest.
Background checks found that one of them had a prior record under the same section, while the other had no prior record.
No drugs or other items were seized from either suspect.
The suspects are being held at Bau police lock-up as police continued their investigations.
