KUCHING: The Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) has been recognised with the Glodon Nation Builder Award 2026 in the Public Sector Leadership in AI-Powered 5D BIM category, highlighting its efforts to advance digital transformation in the construction sector.
In a Facebook post, Sarawak PWD said the award recognised the department’s leadership and commitment to strengthening the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) in project management.
The department said the recognition reflected its continuous efforts to strengthen BIM adoption as a strategic approach to improve the efficiency of project planning, design, coordination and management.
It added that the application of 5D BIM, which integrates digital model information with cost and project management elements, enabled more integrated, transparent and data-driven work processes.
Sarawak PWD said the growing use of AI capabilities within the BIM ecosystem could further enhance information analysis, support decision-making and strengthen coordination in the delivery of construction projects.
The department viewed the Glodon Nation Builder Award 2026 as a catalyst to further expand the adoption of BIM and digital technologies in line with the Sarawak government’s digital transformation agenda.
It said the move was also in keeping with the construction industry’s evolution towards smarter and more sustainable project management.
