KUCHING: The Sarawak Amateur Boxing Association (SABA) will conduct a post-mortem of its boxing squad following its campaign at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) XXII Selangor 2026.
SABA’s Deputy President, Datuk Johnny Ting Su King, said the exercise would be carried out to identify weaknesses across various aspects of the team’s performance during the biennial Games.
He stressed that the post-mortem was an important step following the conclusion of the Games, as it would help the association formulate follow-up plans and preparations for the 2028 SUKMA in Kelantan.
“The post-mortem will be conducted in the near future to identify weaknesses across various aspects of our campaign at the recently concluded SUKMA XXII.
“This is important as it will allow us to formulate follow-up plans and prepare the team for SUKMA 2028 in Kelantan,” Johnny told the Sarawak Tribune.
He added that SABA would also hold a meeting with the coaching staff to discuss the team’s performance and other matters related to its future preparations.
“A meeting with the coaches will be held soon, where we will discuss various matters related to this,” he said.
Sarawak’s boxing squad finished its SUKMA XXII campaign with five medals – one silver and four bronze.
The silver medal was won by Clavia Charlene Sudang Kenedy in the women’s 57kg category, while the four bronze medals were secured by Khairil Hazami Sulam (54kg), Davis Beckham Mit (60kg), Riq Roland (63.5kg) and Abraham Samuel Jerry (67kg).
