SERDANG, Selangor: Pertubuhan Pengusaha Nanas SG1 Malaysia, an association of pineapple entrepreneurs, aims to expand Sarawak Gold 1 (SG1) pineapple cultivation to 2,000 hectares within six years to strengthen the production and competitiveness of the national pineapple industry.
In a statement today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) said this target aligns with the national pineapple industry direction set by the ministry, with the aim of exports reaching 4,000 containers valued at RM2 billion by January 2028.
Pertubuhan Pengusaha Nanas SG1 Malaysia was inaugurated today by Agriculture and Food Security Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, in conjunction with the Malaysia Agricultural, Horticultural and Agro-Tourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS).
KPKM said establishing the association is a strategic step to strengthen the country’s pineapple industry by uniting entrepreneurs and coordinating efforts in a more organised manner.
“This association will serve as a platform connecting entrepreneurs with the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (LPNM), government agencies, research institutions, industry players, investors, and markets, with a focus on developing the SG1 industry from the farm to the export market and ensuring that entrepreneurs’ products have markets, value, and competitiveness,” it added. – BERNAMA
