SELANGOR: Her bright smile says it all, and at 12-years-old, Rosserrine Issawell Manong Raymond, is simply thrilled to be part of Sarawak’s Para SUKMA team for the first time.
What began as a sport she had little interest in has turned into something she now enjoys, with Rosserrine having spent the past year training and preparing for her Para SUKMA debut.
Competing in the TPB10 category, the Year Six pupil of SJK Chung Hua Stapok, Batu Kawa, is keeping her expectations simple – she hopes to win a medal while gaining valuable experience from her first appearance at the Games.
“I just hope to get a medal. It doesn’t matter what medal, as long as I get one. But if I don’t, it is still okay because I can gain experience,” she told reporters today at the Sunway Mega Lanes.
Rosserrine, who is the youngest of four siblings, said she never had much interest in bowling when she first started.
“But now I really like bowling,” she said with a smile.
The Bidayuh from Serian said she has been training for about a year in preparation for the Games, while continuing her studies at SJK Chung Hua Stapok.
Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 will be Rosserrine’s first experience representing Sarawak at the Games, an opportunity she is looking forward to with enthusiasm.
The youngster is among Sarawak’s 22-strong Para Tenpin Bowling squad competing across seven categories from September 7 to 10.
