SELANGOR: From the shot put circle to the 1,500m track, Sarawak struck bronze twice through Jennyla Kueh Waret and Mohamad Hishamudin Razali at Para SUKMA Selangor 2026.
Jennyla opened the day’s medal haul with a 5.08-metre effort in the women’s shot put in the WF55/WF56/WF57 category, while Hishamudin later completed the double with a third-place finish in the men’s 1,500m LT36.
Jennyla secured bronze with her third throw, which took her past fellow Sarawakian Marai, who finished fourth with 4.83m.
Selangor’s Nur Adzra Sophea dominated the event to take gold with 6.39m, while Terengganu’s Nur Safra claimed silver with 5.23m.
For Hishamudin, the 1,500m race proved a demanding test as he was forced to dig deep against a fast-paced field from the opening stages.
He eventually crossed the finish line in 6:40 to secure bronze.
Perlis’ Mahfudz Mahzan took gold in 6:15, while Selangor’s Mohd Arman Rosli claimed silver in 6:18.
Despite the contrasting nature of their events, both Jennyla and Hishamudin ensured Sarawak remained in the medal hunt as competition in para-athletics continued to intensify at the Games.
Their respective bronze medals added to Sarawak’s growing medal tally as the para-athletics competition continued to heat up.
