SELANGOR: A golden finish capped Sarawak’s opening day in the pool as Fraidden Dawan, Rusdianto Rusmadi, Galang Jabai and Mully Andriano clinched the men’s 4x100m medley relay title at Para SUKMA XXII Selangor 2026.
The Sarawak quartet clocked 5:32.92 to take gold, finishing ahead of Sabah, who settled for silver in 5:35.44, while Selangor claimed bronze in 6:12.09.
Rusdianto also enjoyed an outstanding individual outing, winning the men’s 400m freestyle S8 in 5:20.93 and setting a new Games record in the process.
The victory capped a strong opening day for Sarawak’s swimmers, who also collected two silver and one bronze in the individual events.
Galang secured silver in the men’s 50m freestyle S7 with a time of 35.89 seconds, while Rapelson Richard Hamit took bronze in 51.31s.
Fraidden added another silver in the men’s 100m breaststroke SB9 after clocking 1:28.79.
The four medals from the Selangor Aquatics Centre, including the relay gold and Rusdianto’s Games record, provided a strong start to Sarawak’s swimming campaign at the Games.
