PAKAN: A total of 125 health clinics in Sarawak still face internet connectivity constraints, affecting efforts to improve healthcare operations and service delivery, particularly in rural areas.
Sarawak deputy Health director Banges Munga said the State Health Department (JKNS) welcomes efforts to expand digital intervention through the MADANINET programme, especially for clinics located far from urban centres.
He said better internet connectivity is crucial to support the operations of healthcare facilities while improving communication and access to digital services.
“Efforts like this are very helpful as issues can be identified directly on the ground, allowing appropriate measures to be planned,” he said in a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
He said this during the MADANINET 2026 programme at the Nanga Wak Health Clinic and Nanga Kara Health Clinic here on Monday (Sept 7).
Citing Nanga Wak Health Clinic as an example, Banges said the facility is operated by eight staff members who provide healthcare services to about 3,000 residents in the area.
He said the number of people depending on a single clinic demonstrates the importance of reliable internet connectivity in supporting more efficient healthcare delivery.
Banges hoped more health clinics, particularly those in rural areas, would receive attention through visits and digital intervention initiatives such as MADANINET.
