KUCHING: The Ministry of Transport Sarawak is closely monitoring the helicopter accident reported near Long Lellang STOLport this afternoon and remains in contact with the relevant authorities for the latest verified information.
Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the ministry would extend its full cooperation to the relevant authorities where required.
“My thoughts and prayers are with everyone on board, their families and all those affected by this incident,” he said in a statement issued today (Sept 8).
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), the BO-105 helicopter, bearing registration number 9M-LLF, was operating a Flying Doctor Service flight with five people on board, including the pilot.
Lee said the Flying Doctor Service is an important lifeline for rural and remote communities in Sarawak, adding that the safety and wellbeing of those involved remained the priority at this stage.
He also urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow the relevant authorities to carry out the necessary operations and investigation.
“We pray for the best possible outcome and for the smooth conduct of the ongoing operations,” he said.
