KUCHING: Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain has been re-elected as the Chairman of Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Sarawak Skills) for the mid-2026 to mid-2029 term.
His re-election was confirmed during Sarawak Skills’ 31st annual general meeting (AGM) held on Sept 4, which also saw the election of a new line-up for the Sarawak Skills Management Council.
Speaking at the meeting, Abdul Aziz expressed his gratitude to the management council and members for their ongoing commitment, while also acknowledging the contributions of outgoing council members.
“Their collective leadership has played an important role in supporting the management and strengthening the institution’s position as one of Sarawak’s leading Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions,” he said.
Congratulating the newly elected council members, he reminded them of their trust and responsibility to uphold the values and aspirations of Sarawak Skills.
Reviewing the organisation’s performance, Abdul Aziz highlighted 2025 as a standout year, noted particularly for its success in the Single Rating for TVET Programmes 2025 by the Department of Skills Development Malaysia.
During the assessment, Sarawak Skills achieved the highest number of five-star-rated programmes among all evaluated institutions nationwide.
He attributed this national milestone to the professionalism and dedication of the management, trainers, and staff in meeting industry and regulatory standards.
Sarawak Skills currently comprises 88 members spanning various ministries, government agencies and industrial sectors, fostering strong cross-sector collaboration for workforce development initiatives across the state.
