KUCHING: Fifty General Operations Force (GOF) personnel put their combat shooting skills to the test on Tuesday (Sept 8) as the Sarawak GOF Brigade stepped up efforts to keep its personnel battle-ready for any eventuality.
The intensive firearms exercise, held at the brigade’s headquarters, was aimed at sharpening the personnel’s weapon-handling skills, accuracy, efficiency and overall operational readiness.
Personnel from various GOF elements took part in the training, which was conducted by Sgt Fadzlee Md Farid of the brigade’s Training Branch.
Also present was the Sarawak GOF Brigade’s Armament Staff Officer ASP Micheal Kilab.
The exercise focused on the handling and use of the Walther P99 pistol and M4 combat rifle, while training personnel to respond with speed, precision and discipline in situations requiring immediate action.
ASP Micheal said that although the country remained peaceful and stable, GOF personnel could not afford to let their guard down.
“Maintaining a high level of readiness was essential to ensure the force could respond effectively to any eventuality.
“Continuous training is important to ensure every personnel has a high level of skill, confidence and discipline in carrying out their responsibilities.”
The brigade will continue strengthening similar exercises as part of its efforts to maintain the professionalism, efficiency and operational readiness of its personnel at an optimum level.
The initiative is also aimed at ensuring the GOF remains prepared to safeguard public safety and maintain peace and security whenever called upon.
