SELANGOR: Sarawak’s para tenpin bowlers exceeded expectations at Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 after finishing with six gold medals, surpassing their pre-Games target of five.
The impressive haul at Sunway Mega Lanes highlighted the depth of the Sarawak squad, with both experienced bowlers and emerging talents contributing to the state’s medal tally.
Among the standout performers were Rosserrine Issawell Manong Raymond, who struck gold in the women’s TPB10 singles, and Mohamad Yakup Winei, who topped the men’s TPB3 singles event.
The TPB8 doubles pairing of Farthin Zafirah Zaidi and Nurfariesyah Adriana Fairul also exceeded expectations by contributing to Sarawak’s medal haul.
Head coach Myron Khoo Hock Ming described the campaign as a proud achievement after the team surpassed its target.
“We targeted five gold medals, and in the end, we managed to win six.
“We also did not expect athletes such as Rosserrine, Mohamad Yakup, and the pairing of Farthin Zafirah and Nurfariesyah Adriana to contribute medals to the team,” he said after the medal presentation ceremony today (Sept 10).
With the Games over, Myron said the focus would now shift towards preparing Sarawak’s bowlers for bigger stages.
“Our next plan is to compete at the World Para Championships, while our main focus is to get several Sarawak athletes into the Malaysia national squad,” he said.
The six-gold finish reinforced Sarawak’s standing as one of the country’s leading para tenpin bowling powerhouses while providing a strong platform for the next generation of bowlers.
