Those were the words shared by the wife of assistant medical officer Alexson Adit Henry as she accompanied her husband’s coffin on his final journey home on Sunday (Sept 13).
In a poignant social media post, she was seen travelling in the same vehicle carrying Alexson’s coffin after his remains were released from Hospital Miri earlier in the day.
She had accompanied her husband’s coffin throughout the journey home and thanked everyone involved in ensuring he was brought home safely.
She also said she had yet to read or respond individually to the many messages she had received, but would try to do so when she had the time and strength.
Alexson, 31, was among five people killed in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Baram.
His remains were among those released to their respective families on Sunday after the identities of all five victims were officially confirmed through DNA analysis by the Royal Malaysia Police and Chemistry Department.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said Alexson’s remains were brought from Hospital Miri to his home on Sunday, with his burial scheduled for Tuesday at the Anglican Cemetery in Lambir, Miri.
The other victims were medical officer Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, 33; nurses Jessie Paya Jok, 44, and Debra Moset, 40; and pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, 30.
Dr Ainul was flown from Miri to Kota Bharu, Kelantan, aboard a Royal Malaysian Air Force aircraft for burial at the Seri Kedeper Muslim Cemetery in Kampung Baung, Pengkalan Chepa.
Debra’s remains are to be flown from Miri to Kuching before she is laid to rest in Kampung Semadang, Padawan, while Jessie was brought home on Sunday ahead of her burial at BEM Cemetery in Lambir on Monday.
Zainol’s remains are being flown from Miri to Kuala Lumpur before his burial at Forest Height Cemetery in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan.
Dzulkefly thanked all agencies involved from the search and rescue operation through to the management and repatriation of the victims’ remains, including the police, Chemistry Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Sarawak Islamic Religious Department and Hospital Miri.
The ministry is also strengthening cooperation with the Fire and Rescue Department to support emergency medical evacuation operations following the temporary suspension of FDS services for investigation, review and comprehensive assessment.
