KUCHING: Three local men were taken into custody after testing positive for methamphetamine during an anti-drug operation covering two districts yesterday (Sept 14).

The arrests were made by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Kuching during ‘Ops Cegah’, which was conducted at Kampung Bijurey in Krokong, Taman Mutiara in Bau, Kampung Benuk and several areas around Kuching.

All three men, aged between 19 and 40, tested positive for methamphetamine, following preliminary urine screenings conducted during the operation.

The men were arrested under Section 3(1) of the Drug and Substance Dependants and Abusers (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983 (Act 283) for further investigation.

AADK said the operation formed part of its continued efforts to detect and curb drug abuse, while addressing activities that could threaten the safety and well-being of the community.

Members of the public are urged to provide information on suspected drug abuse by calling 1-800-22-2235 or contacting its WhatsApp line at 019-626 2233.
