BELURU: The RM20 million redevelopment of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Beluru Central has provided rural pupils with more comfortable and conducive educational facilities.
Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the project is part of the initiative to redevelop dilapidated schools in Sarawak under the RM1 billion allocation.
He said the implementation of the project reflected the commitment of both the Federal and Sarawak governments to ensuring rural pupils had access to educational facilities on par with those available in urban schools.
“However, physical facilities must be complemented by a quality education system, skilled teachers and a learning environment capable of producing a knowledgeable and competitive generation that is prepared to face future challenges,” he said when officiating redevelopment of the project at the school here recently.
The project, implemented from June 2020 to May 2024, involved the construction of an administration block, academic block, boys’ and girls’ hostels, as well as a dining hall.
Apart from SK Beluru Central, the dilapidated school redevelopment initiative also covers six other projects involving SJK (C) Hua Kong, SK Sungai Buri, SK Sungai Bakas, SK Lapok, SK Sungai Jaong and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Marudi.
