KUCHING: The Sentosa Run 2026 brought together 816 participants from diverse backgrounds while raising RM28,128 for the SJK Chung Hua Stampin Building Fund today.
Centred on the theme “Unity, Progress, Inclusivity”, the event aimed to promote healthy living, foster community ties and support the construction of a new school building for SJK Chung Hua Stampin.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said the event’s name, which symbolised peace, safety and prosperity, carried an important message for the public.
“Today, we run for peace. We run for unity. We run for stability. But more importantly, we run together,” he said in his speech.
Yap highlighted that the broad participation across different races, ages and languages reflected Sarawak’s unique societal strength, reiterating that diversity is a core asset rather than a weakness.
He added that funding the school’s infrastructure represents a direct investment in children’s education and future.
“When we contribute towards our school, we are not simply contributing towards bricks, concrete or facilities. We are investing in our children,” Yap said, encouraging the public to carry the spirit of mutual respect into their daily lives.
Meanwhile, organising chairman Penghulu Lai Boon Kie expressed gratitude to all sponsors, volunteers, security teams and participants who contributed to the event’s success.
Lai noted that the event showed how communities can move forward together without leaving anyone behind.
“Every step that we take today not only brings us towards a healthier lifestyle, but also carries hope for the next generation,” Lai said.
The proceeds totalling RM28,128 will go directly to SJK Chung Hua Stampin to assist in providing a better learning environment for future students.
