SIBU: Phase One of the redevelopment of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Agama Sibu has been completed and officially handed over to the school.
The Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) said the project, undertaken under the state’s pilot programme to redevelop dilapidated schools, was handed over on September 15.
The completed works comprise a dining hall block, an MSB House block, as well as demolition, piling, mechanical and electrical, and external works.
PWD Sibu’s Divisional Engineer, Chieng Siong Ming, handed over the completed project to the Sarawak Education Department and SMK Agama Sibu.
The handover was witnessed by the Education Ministry’s Principal Assistant Secretary, Mohd Zahreen Mohd Zailani, and Sibu District Education Officer, Lau Ngie Tung.
According to the department, the project’s defects liability period will run until May 10, 2027.
“The completion would provide the school community with improved facilities and a safer and more conducive learning environment,” it said.
