SIBU: The redevelopment of dilapidated Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Siong Tengah in Tamin has been completed and handed over to the school.
The Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) said the project was carried out under Phase Three of the RM1-billion allocation for the redevelopment of dilapidated schools in Sarawak.
The completed facilities comprise two classroom blocks, a science laboratory block, and a toilet block.
PWD Sibu Divisional Engineer, Chieng Siong Ming, handed over the completed project to the Sarawak Education Department and SK Sungai Siong Tengah.
Representing the recipients were Sarawak Education Department Infrastructure and Procurement Sector’s Senior Principal Assistant Director, Masnah Abang Abu Bakar, and SK Sungai Siong Tengah’s headmistress, Karen Jana.
The handover followed the signing of the project handover documents, marking the completion of the redevelopment and allowing the new facilities to be used by the school.
The department said the project would provide pupils and staff with improved facilities and a safer, more comfortable and conducive learning environment.
