HYDERABAD, India: India’s Tata Electronics has partnered with Malaysian engineering services firm Kelington Group Bhd to develop its semiconductor fabrication facility in Gujarat state.
The partnership is expected to speed up the development of the plant being built in Dholera, located about 100 kilometres from Ahmedabad city.
“As part of the collaboration, Kelington will support the delivery of critical infrastructure and systems required for semiconductor manufacturing. The partnership will enable Tata Electronics to accelerate the facility’s operational readiness for silicon wafer production,” a Tata announcement said on Friday (Sept. 18) at the Semicon India 2026 trade fair in New Delhi.
The plant is being developed with an investment of USD11 billion (approx. RM44.9 billion).
“Together, we will create a world-class semiconductor manufacturing environment that will contribute to India’s semiconductor ambitions, and our goal of timely delivery of high-quality chips for our global customers,” said Tata Electronics’ Chief Executive, Randhir Thakur.
“The proposed partnership for Tata Electronics’ Dholera facility has been envisioned to support the exacting requirements of semiconductor manufacturing. We are pleased to partner with Tata Electronics on this landmark project,” said Kelington’s Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lim Seng Chuan.
Several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and announcements were made on day two of the September 17-19 exhibition.
The trade fair attracted six country pavilions representing Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea and Sweden. – BERNAMA
