KOTA BHARU, Kelantan: The appeal against the FIFA registration ban imposed on Kelantan Red Warrior FC (KRW FC) has shown positive developments, with the world football governing body still conducting a detailed analysis and investigation.
Football Association of Malaysia’s (FAM) Vice-President I, Datuk Seri Rosmadi Ismail, said the appeal had been submitted to FIFA through the FAM secretary-general, with efforts continuing to resolve the issue before this season’s Malaysia League (M-League) campaign.
“The appeal was submitted to FIFA through the FAM secretary-general. So far, no official decision has been issued. God-willing, we will receive positive news.
“We hope FIFA will make a positive decision to resolve the problems faced by KRW FC,” he told reporters at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport here on Saturday night (Sept. 19).
He said FAM, through its representative on the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Executive Committee, had made every effort to resolve the registration ban imposed on KRW FC.
KRW FC was previously slapped with a player registration ban by FIFA following claims over unpaid salaries by players and coaches under the previous Kelantan FC management.
In another development, Rosmadi said the upcoming election of new leadership for the Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) was expected to revive the association and drive the development of football in the state.
He said the election process must be conducted properly and smoothly to enable KAFA to resume its role as an official FAM affiliate.
“KAFA is an official FAM affiliate. As a leader, I will certainly assist KAFA, especially since I am from Kelantan myself and began my involvement in football through KAFA.
“Everyone knows KAFA’s problems have persisted due to its suspension, but I understand from the FAM secretariat that the KAFA election will be held soon. I hope the election will be conducted properly and smoothly to revive KAFA and develop football in Kelantan,” he said. – BERNAMA
