BINTULU: The operational strength of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) continues to translate into strong financial returns, with dividend contributions amounting to RM802 million to the State Financial Secretary Sarawak and Equisar Assets Sdn. Bhd.

State Secretary and BPHB chairman Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki said the achievement reflected the company’s operational capabilities in supporting Sarawak’s trade activities and economic growth.

He said Biport Bulkers continued to handle a capacity of four million tonnes annually, accounting for about 25 per cent of Sarawak’s total exports.

“Operationally, we launched the Regional Halal Hub last July in collaboration with the Sarawak Halal Industry Development Council, opening up new opportunities for trade diversification.

“This operational strength has translated into strong financial returns, particularly through dividend contributions of RM802.3 million to the State Financial Secretary Sarawak and Equisar Assets Sdn. Bhd.,” he said this in his speech during the BPHB appreciation dinner here on Monday (Sept 21).

Abu Bakar added that BPHB is also targeting an expansion of its cargo-handling capacity while strengthening sustainable port initiatives as part of efforts to further grow its operations.

He said support from all parties, including employees, management, business partners and stakeholders, is crucial to realising new opportunities and ensuring the vision of making Bintulu Port a leading port by 2030 could be achieved.

He also urged all parties to support BPHB’s new chief executive officer and work together to strengthen Bintulu Port’s role in supporting Sarawak’s economic growth.
