KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg met Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana Negeri here today.
The courtesy call, which began at 10am and lasted nearly an hour, was held ahead of the state Cabinet meeting.
During the meeting, Abang Johari briefed Wan Junaidi on matters concerning the state’s administration and development in accordance with the provisions of the Sarawak Constitution.
“The Head of State also shared and exchanged views with the Premier on several matters concerning the state and the wellbeing of Sarawakians.
“The discussion took place in a cordial atmosphere and reflected the close relationship and continued cooperation between the institution of the Head of State and the Sarawak government,” Astana Sarawak said in a statement.
Wan Junaidi also expressed confidence that Sarawak would continue to progress under Abang Johari’s leadership, particularly through strategic initiatives centred on the people’s wellbeing, economic prosperity and sustainable and inclusive development.
