ACTOR Meerqeen has stressed that a scene in which he carries his co-star Hannah Delisha in their latest drama ‘The Hidden Hand’ was performed professionally and strictly as required by the script and storyline.
The 25-year-old said the scene, which features their characters as a married couple, was carried out with the agreement of everyone involved, including the director and actors.
“It was required by the script and the director. Logically, if something happened to my wife in real life, I would do the same thing.
“It was done with the agreement of everyone involved — myself, the director and Hannah. For me, acting is about reality and logic, so the scene required that kind of interaction,” he said.
Meerqeen said he also spoke to Hannah and sought her permission before filming to ensure both actors were comfortable with the scene.
“I mean, this is part of the job. I think mutual consent is important. I asked Hannah if she was okay with doing the scene, and she said yes.
“We did two takes of the scene. It is not about whether I was comfortable or uncomfortable, but about my manners and professionalism at work. I also told the production team that, if possible, I did not want to repeat a scene like that unnecessarily,” he said.
On some social media users’ tendency to amplify promotional clips or sensitive scenes online, Meerqeen said he chose not to dwell on the reactions but remained cautious.
“I’m not worried, but I am more careful. Almost all my previous dramas have attracted comments about my on-screen pairings.
“So I don’t want things like this to disrupt my performance or the storyline of the drama. As actors, we have to be prepared for any situation,” he said.
In ‘The Hidden Hand’, Meerqeen plays Syawal, who is paired with Hannah, who plays his wife.
