SERIAN: A lorry driver suffered injuries after being trapped in his vehicle following a rear-end collision near the Kampung Balai Ringin Mosque early Saturday morning (Sept. 26).
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) said an emergency call regarding the incident was received at 6.05 am.
Firefighters from Serian fire station was dispatched to the scene, located about 31 kilometres away, and arrived at 6.37 am.
“Upon arrival, the team found that the accident involved a 10-tonne lorry that had rammed into the rear of a trailer lorry.
The driver was found conscious but trapped by his legs in the driver’s seat of the lorry,” it said.
Firefighters executed an extrication operation using specialised rescue tools and a stretcher to safely free the victim.
The injured driver was handed over to medical personnel at the scene for treatment and further action. The driver of the trailer lorry escaped unhurt.
The team also carried out cleanup works to remove debris from the road before ending the operation at 7.08am once the area was deemed safe.
