138 get RM504,500 grants

MIRI: The Sarawak government on Thursday handed over direct grants totalling RM504,500 to 138 villages and longhouses in the Bekenu zone under the Sibuti parliamentary constituency.

Sibuti Member of Parliarment (MP) Lukanisman Awang Sauni presented the grants during a simple ceremony held at Bekenu community hall near here.

The grants were meant for the recipients to hold community activities in their respective areas.

After the presentation ceremony, Lukanisman also informed Bekenu folks on the status of development projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

“For projects which have been applied, some are currently under the implementation stages,” he said, adding that the projects are being implemented under RTP worth RM5 million.
