SARIKEI: A 67-year-old man was slightly injured in an accident involving a motorcycle and a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle at KM 435 Sarikei-Betong Road last Sunday.
Sarikei District Police chief, Supt Mat Jusoh Mohamad said initial investigation revealed that the accident occurred while the 4WD driver was heading to Sibu from Kuching.
“Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, a motorcycle suddenly came out of a junction.
“As the distance between the motorcycle and the vehicle is too close, the driver failed to avoid the motorcyclist despite stepping on the brake pedal and honked the latter,” he said.
Mat Jusoh said the 54-year-old driver was not injured in the incident and the motorcyclist was later taken to Sarikei Hospital for treatment.
He said the 4WD driver had lodged a report on the incident and the case was classified under R3 LN166/59.
