The essence of Gawai Dayak is the symbolisation of the Dayak community’s embodiment of unity, aspiration and hope. It is a thanksgiving ceremony held to appreciate a bountiful harvest for the year and seek blessings for the new farming season and also other endeavours. It is both a religious and social occasion.
