KUCHING: Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (TERAS) acting president Datuk Peter Nansian made a clarification that the party is still very much alive.
This was in regards to a report made saying that the party has dissolved, which Nansian assured that TERAS is still operating during a press conference at his office here yesterday.
“We are silent supporters of Barisan Nasional (BN); we understand that in politics not everybody wants to be in the same party.
“So we do our part to bring those who don’t want to be in mainstream politics but still want to support BN.
“We will carry on what we have been doing before and we truly support the BN government, especially our new Chief Minister,” he said.
Nansian, who was the former state assemblyman for Tasik Biru, also revealed that the party will be having its triennial general assembly (TGA) later this year to elect new office bearers.
When asked if former president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom will come back to TERAS, Nansian chose not to divulge any information regarding it.
Meanwhile, Nansian also said that on 1 July this year he will be part of organising team for the Borneo Tribal Festival which will be held at Borneo Tribal Village.
Located at Kampung Apar Singai in Bau, he revealed that Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg is expected to officiate at the event at 10am.
“Other than the festival, it will also include a Gawai-Raya celebration and launching of Borneo Tribal Village,” he said.
Nansian added that the purpose of the event is to promote the state’s culture which is derived from the various ethnic groups that have settled in the state.
