KUCHING: Sarawak’s Maksak squad will be banking their hopes on three former Sarawak players in the 2019 National Maksak Football Championship which will be held in Pahang from Aug 1 to 4.
The trio are Aidil Mohamad (goalkeeper), Ahmad Bujang (midfielder) and Samsul Napiah (defender). The squad also include former Sarawak Cup players from Kuching who are also DBKU players- Juajiman Wagino and Matnor Abu Bakr. The squad are led by former Sarawak player Firdaus Morshidi.
This time Sarawak play in Group C with Pahang, Kelantan and Penang while Group A comprises Kedah, PDRM and Selangor.
In Group B are Perak, Negeri S,embilan, Melaka and ATM while Group D consists of Johor, Penjara, Federal Territories and Terengganu. According to Sarawak team’s spokesman, they want to make it to the semi-finals. “We believe in this team.
Three former Sarawak players will definitely help,” he said.”
“We will work hard to make the last four but first we must focus on the group matches, “he added.
