SIBU: Cancer patients can now use the toilets at the Cancer Care Unit of Sibu Hospital.

The Lions Club of Sibu Dudong upgraded the toilets recently. Its chairman Kapitan Connie Loh and Lions 308-A2 District Governor Dr Gan Kean Siong together with Sibu Hospital director Dr Ngian HieUng jointly declared open the two toilets yesterday.

According to Dr Ngian, previously, cancer patients who were there for chemotherapy had to use toilets at the other wards because the toilets at the unit could not be used.

Loh said her club was happy to be able to work together with the hospital to upgrade the toilet facilities for the cancer patients.

“Cancer patients generally are very weak after chemotherapy or operations. With these new toilets, they don’t have to walk far to go to the toilets. These new toilets are built next to their wards,” she added.

She also hoped that other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) would continue to assist the hospital to improve its facilities for its cancer patients.
