SARIKEI: A student died in an accident involving a motorcycle and MPV vehicle at Jalan Repok, here on Thursday.
Sarikei Police District chief Supt Mat Jusoh Mohamad said the incident happened at 5.17pm. The victim was a pillion rider on a motorcycle which was ridden by his friend.
The victim identified as Jeremy Jackson, 17, from Jalan Sentebu, Susur Jambu here was pronounced dead at the accident site.
Meanwhile, his friend, the motorbike rider, who is also a student, was injured and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Sarikei Hospital.
A driver of MPV, a housewife, 45, from Jalan Puyu, Sibu was not injured.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
