KUCHING: The Sarawak state government has signed a Friendship state-province Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) with Shandong (China).
The state delegation was led by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian who represented Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and signed the MoA on behalf of the Sarawak Government.
During his visit to the Chinese province, he met with Shandong Communist Party of China (CPC) secretary Liu Jiayi and Shandong province governor Gong Zheng.

It was the third time that the state has conducted MoA signings with a Chinese provincial government.
The first time was with the Yunnan province and signing for Sarawak was then chief minister Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
The second time was with the Fujian province, which was signed by Abang Johari on behalf of Sarawak. The Shandong province has a population of 99 million and posts the second highest GDP in China.
