SARIKEI: Twelve Indonesian nationals, including a boy, were detained for immigration offences during early morning operations at three locations here on Friday (Apr 10).
Sarikei Immigration said the arrests were made during ‘Ops Sapu’ carried out between 1.10 am and 3.30 am, involving 26 enforcement personnel from the Sarikei Immigration office and the Sarawak Immigration Special Action Team (PTK).
“A total of 29 individuals were inspected, comprising both foreigners and locals. Those checked included 16 foreign men, five foreign women and one boy, while the rest were Malaysians,” the department said in a statement.
Following the inspection, 12 Indonesians – six men, five women and one boy – were detained for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
All detainees were taken to the immigration depot for further action.
The operations focused on a construction site and several houses in the Simpang Selalang Sebangkoi area.
