KUCHING: The joyous celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri should be seized as a vital moment to strengthen bonds, deepen compassion and reinforce unity across Sarawak’s multiracial communities.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said Aidilfitri is not merely a celebration of joy, but also a meaningful occasion to express gratitude and seek forgiveness from one another.
He said amid the festive atmosphere, the community is also reminded of the importance of tolerance, mutual respect and a strong sense of togetherness in society.
“In Sarawak, we live in a plural society comprising various races, religions and cultures. This uniqueness is a strength that we must preserve together,” he said in his Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 message.
Awang Tengah added that the spirit of unity, harmony and mutual understanding among the people forms an important foundation in ensuring Sarawak’s continued progress and prosperity.
In this regard, he called on all parties to make the Hari Raya celebration an opportunity to further strengthen bonds of brotherhood not only among Muslims, but also across the wider community regardless of background.
“With the spirit of unity and togetherness, the people can collectively contribute to the progress and wellbeing of Sarawak,” he said.
