MUKAH: Police arrested three men in separate drug possession cases during ‘Op Tapis Khas’ operations around the district on Wednesday.
In the first case, a 24-year-old foreign labourer was detained in front of a budget hotel at Jalan Boulevard Setiaraja here at 1:00 pm.
A search uncovered a piece of straw tube and a plastic packet containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine weighing 1.14 grammes (g), valued at RM200.
The suspect’s urine test returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
In the second case, police detained a 26-year-old unemployed local man at Simpang Tiga, Jalan Ladang Sawit, along the Mukah-Selangau Road, at about 12:50 pm.
He was found with a straw tube containing 0.30g of suspected methamphetamine worth RM150.
A urine test also showed he was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
A third suspect, a 34-year-old local man, was arrested at the same location around 1:00 pm.
Police recovered a straw tube containing 0.11g of suspected methamphetamine worth RM110. His urine test came back negative.
The first and second suspect are being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while the third suspect is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the same act.
All three suspects have been remanded for four days until November 24.
Mukah Police Chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, said the operations reflect the district police’s firm stance against drug abuse.
“Mukah IPD remains committed to combating all forms of drug-related activities, and we urge the public to channel any information that can assist our efforts,” he said.
