THIS Mother’s Day, imagine having the chance to take a break from your usual responsibilities – no chores, no errands, just a full day to yourself and RM300 to spend however you wish.

I asked a few mothers what they would do with this kind of freedom – and their answers are full of joy, care, and well-deserved indulgence.

I’d start the day slowly with a peaceful breakfast and good coffee (RM30), and maybe a little bit of journaling too. A relaxing massage (RM70) would help ease the tension I’ve been holding all this time. I’d treat myself to a nice lunch at my favourite cafe (RM50), then browse a bookshop or shop for something I love – maybe a book or a bottle of perfume (RM100). After that, I’d watch a movie and just chill after going out. The last RM50? I’d save it by putting it in an envelope marked ‘FOR FUTURE USES’ as a reminder that I deserve care and rest, not just on Mother’s Day, but always.

If I had RM300 for a day off, I’d head straight to the beach. I’d start with a big breakfast and lots of coffee to fuel me for the day. I’d spend the rest of the day lounging by the ocean, soaking up the sun, swimming, and eating sweet treats – just letting the rhythm of the waves and the calm of the beach take over. It would be the perfect escape for a busy mum like me.

I’d use the RM300 to treat myself – starting with a big sushi platter, because I’ve been craving it! Then I’d head to the mall for some new makeup and a bit of retail therapy. Good food and a little pampering make the perfect self-reward.

After juggling home and kids, I’d spend the RM300 on a spa day – maybe a facial, massage, and some quiet time. Mums deserve a break too, and a little relaxation can make a big difference.

I’d use the RM300 for a peaceful staycation at a cosy hotel or boutique homestay nearby. With a comfy bed, nice views, and maybe even a small pool, it would be the perfect place to relax. I’d sleep in, enjoy a quiet breakfast, catch up on a good book or movie, and treat myself to my favourite meals. If the budget allows, maybe even a massage. A full day to rest and recharge would be the perfect Mother’s Day gift to myself.

A perfect Mother’s Day is spending time with my bestie. We’d start with a relaxing massage at Attiya Spa, followed by brunch at Earthlings Coffee Workshop. After some shopping at The Spring, we’d end the day with a peaceful dinner at The Coffee Garden. Simple, relaxing, and full of joy.

With a day off and RM300 this Mother’s Day, I’d celebrate quietly – starting with journaling and hand-brewed coffee, then a creative workshop like pottery (RM120). Lunch would be a solo picnic (RM50), followed by a visit to a plant shop for a small leafy reminder that I’m still growing (RM30). I’d end the day with a cosy potluck dinner with soul sisters (RM50) and leave the final RM50 with a note at an old folks’ home – to remind a mother she’s not forgotten.
