SINGAPORE: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg flew in here today to join the Malaysian delegation to the 12th Malaysia-Singapore Annual Leaders Retreat (ALR).
The delegation is led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is on a working visit to the republic.
Anwar was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, and Johor Menteri Minister Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
The Sarawak Government delegation includes Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
The retreat serves as a platform for both countries to review cooperation, address regional and international issues, and enhance bilateral ties.
This year’s meeting is expected to see the exchange of several memoranda of understanding and agreement between Malaysia and Singapore.
On Sarawak-Singapore cooperation, Abang Johari recently told the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) that Sarawak has received conditional approval from the Singapore Energy Market Authority for the proposed Sarawak-Singapore undersea electricity cable project.
He said the initiative supports efforts to develop the ASEAN Power Grid and advances Sarawak’s aim to become a regional green energy hub.
