SIBU: Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari visited a food court at Jalan Jasmine here last night.
He arrived at the Medan Selera, Kampung Nyabor Malay Union Club (MUC) food court around 8.30pm and received a warm welcome from the locals while some were surprised and excited with his presence.
Abang Johari was seen chatting with stall traders and visitors at the food court while others grabbed the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the premier.
He was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is also the Nangka assemblyman, State Secretary Datuk Seri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sibu resident Wong Hie Sieng, Pemanca Datuk Jason Tai, among others.
Meanwhile, Dr Annuar in his Facebook post described the dinner as ‘santai’ (relax) as well as to meet the people on the ground.
“What’s on our menu? We are having local delicacies in Sibu which is Dabai, Midin, and Umai Jek,” he said.
Abang Johari is expected to launch the Sarawakku Sayang programme at Sibu Civic Centre, at 9.30am today.
