KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg arrived in Jakarta today as part of the Sarawak Government’s delegation attending a pre-meeting ahead of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s official visit to Indonesia and the 13th Annual Consultation.

The Premier and his delegation touched down at Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport and were accompanied by State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy Bhd and PETROS), Datuk Ibrahim Baki.

Abang Johari is scheduled to join Anwar in a series of official programmes, including a meeting with chief editors of Indonesian media, an engagement with the Malaysia-Indonesia Journalists Friendship Association (ISWAMI), and a bilateral meeting with the Indonesian President at Istana Merdeka on Tuesday (July 29).

The itinerary continues with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Foreign Minister of Malaysia and the Indonesian Minister of Health, aimed at enhancing cooperation in the health sector.

Delegates from both countries are also set to hold formal discussions during the 13th Annual Consultation, a key platform to strengthen Malaysia-Indonesia bilateral relations.

Additionally, Abang Johari will join the Malaysian delegation on a visit to the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, where they will take part in several symbolic activities, including a tree-planting ceremony, a group photo session in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, a signing of a guest book, and the presentation of a commemorative painting to reaffirm Malaysia’s commitment to regional cooperation.
