KUCHING: A spirit of reflection and compassion marked the breaking of fast and congregational prayers with the Premier of Sarawak, as the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) hosted 16 orphans and special needs children from Pusat Kebajikan Jumaani at the Satria Pertiwi Complex on Monday (Mar 2).

Smiles and excitement were evident on the children’s faces as they received contributions presented by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg shortly after the breaking of fast.

The contributions were more than just material assistance as they symbolised the state government’s continued concern and unwavering support for those in need, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan.

The Premier’s presence at the event underscored the state leadership’s commitment to engage with the people while strengthening the values of welfare, empathy and unity among the diverse community.

Earlier, he joined distinguished guests in performing the Maghrib prayer in congregation. The programme continued with the Isyak and Tarawih prayers.

Also present were the Premier’s daughter, Dayang Norjihan, and Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
