JAKARTA, Indonesia: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg started his working visit here with a private discussion with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the hotel of Anwar’s residence in the Indonesian capital.
Also present in the discussion for the yearly consultative meeting with the Indonesian President was Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Mohd Noor.
The discussion, held ahead of the annual consultative meeting with the Indonesian President, is believed to have covered key bilateral matters including border concerns and Asean cooperation in renewable power generation and distribution.
These topics are expected to be raised in the official engagement with the Indonesian authorities.
Later, the Malaysian delegation proceeded to the Istana Merdeka where the Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to host the visiting delegation.
Abang Johari and entourage arrived here on Monday as part of the national delegation to the 13th Annual Malaysia-Indonesia Consultations.
The Premier is scheduled to join Anwar in several official programmes, including the Prime Minister’s Meeting with Indonesian Media Editors-in-Chief and the Malaysia-Indonesia Journalists Brotherhood Association (ISWAMI).
The programme will continue with the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding in health cooperation between the Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Minister of Health.
Delegations from both countries are then scheduled to hold an official meeting during the 13th Annual Consultations Session, an important platform to strengthen Malaysia-Indonesia bilateral relations.
Abang Johari will also join the Malaysian delegation on a visit to the Asean Secretariat in Jakarta to attend several official events, including a tree planting ceremony, a photo session commemorating Malaysia’s Asean chairmanship 2025, a guest book signing ceremony, and the presentation of a symbolic painting representing commitment to regional cooperation.
