KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been lauded for his transformative leadership, driving significant progress across various sectors.

Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) deputy president Datuk Phillip Ting Ding Ing highlighted the Premier’s vision for the future, exemplified by the “Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030” and the “Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint.”

“He has reclaimed strategic assets like the Bakun Hydroelectric Dam and the Bintulu Port Authority, while securing increased financial autonomy for Sarawak,” Ting said.

“Notable achievements include the Sarawak Sales Tax Ordinance, generating RM15.8 billion in revenue from 2019 to 2023, and a substantial increase in the Special Allocation under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.”

Ting also praised the Premier’s focus on education, including plans for free education in STEM and professional fields from 2027.

“Significant infrastructure developments under his leadership include the Baleh Hydroelectric Dam, the Pan Borneo Highway, and the Sarawak Coastal Road Network,” he added.
