KUCHING: Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has been appointed as the new Publicity Chief of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), succeeding Datuk Idris Buang.
The appointment was announced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during a meeting held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Saturday night.
Following the announcement, Abdul Karim, who is also Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister, expressed his appreciation to the party’s top leadership for placing their trust in him.
“This reflects the continued confidence in my involvement within the party’s Supreme Council,” he told the media after the meeting.
Abdul Karim previously held the position of PBB Vice-President but did not retain it in the party elections held in February.
He noted that the new role is not unfamiliar to him and said he would work closely with the party’s Secretary-General and President when issuing public statements.
“This is to ensure that all statements released are aligned with the party’s stance and not overly personal, as is expected of someone holding the role of Publicity Chief,” he added.
