KUCHING: The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) Sarawak is spearheading efforts to accelerate digital transformation in business administration across the state through the Engagement Session on Enhancing Business Start-Up Efficiency in Sarawak via Digital Approach held today (June 19).
Organised in collaboration with the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU), the session brought together licensing agencies, local authorities, ministries and technical departments, as well as industry players to discuss strategies for enhancing digitalisation in the business registration system.
MPC Deputy Director General Dr Mohamad Norjayadi Tamam said the session was part of reform initiatives decided at the Special Task Force on Agency Reform (STAR) Meeting.
“This session aligns with decisions made at the STAR meeting, including the implementation of a pilot project to reform business registration through the Regulatory Sandbox approach,” he said during his closing remarks.
He added that the session also served as a platform to assess the current process of starting a business, explore the potential of a one-stop system and the use of a super form as well as gather direct feedback from relevant stakeholders.
“I hope MPC can strengthen collaborations with the Sarawak government and other strategic partners to ensure a more effective and inclusive implementation of these initiatives,” he added.
The pilot reform project is scheduled to begin in the Sibu Division on August 1 and will serve as a pioneering model for the integration of digital systems into the business registration process in Sarawak.
The initiative is strongly supported by the Sarawak government as part of its broader commitment to position the state as a hub for innovative and inclusive digital economy.
Its main objectives are to increase the rate of new business formation, reduce start-up time and costs, minimise bureaucratic hurdles and
improve customer satisfaction with government services.
MPC believes the success of this initiative depends on the strong commitment of all relevant agencies to ensure that policies introduced are not only aligned with policy objectives but also practical and user-friendly.
With the cooperation of all parties involved, this digitalisation initiative is expected to accelerate business administration transformation in Sarawak and contribute to sustainable and inclusive economic development.
