KUCHING: The construction of the access road to the southern area of Kuching International Airport has reached 92.38% completion.
According to the Public Works Department in a video shared on its Facebook page, the project is expected to be completed by the end of June this year.
The department stated that the new dual-lane, two-way road included a 1 km stretch from the T-junction at Stutong to the T-junction at Stampin, and a 5.2 km stretch from the Stampin T-junction to the T-junction at Bukit Berangan.
Additionally, construction is actively underway for another dual-lane, two-way road spanning 1.7 km from the Stampin T-junction to the T-junction at Sungai Tapang.
The project also includes the construction of bridges across Sungai Kuap, Sungai Stampin and Sungai Sangkoh.
Once completed, the new road will serve as an alternative route between Samarahan and Kuching.
