SIBU: An accountant was left RM50,000 poorer after she was lured into an investment scheme that promises lucrative returns.

The incident happened on Apr 12 when the woman, in her 30s, came across came across a Malaysian Stock Exchange course on Facebook, which offered lessons related to technical trading and daily analysis.

She then clicked on the link and communicated with a suspected Aham Capital agent named ‘Genie’ via WhatsApp in hopes to gain knowledge on the course.

However, the suspect introduced her of another investment platform called Tower Capital Asia (TCA), claiming that profits generated through TCA will have to pay a 15 per cent commission to Aham Capital.

“Between May 21 and 27, the victim transferred RM50,000 via three transactions into two different local accounts.

“Following that, she found that her investment had allegedly grown to RM101,372.81 as stated on the ‘TCApro.net’ website. But, attempts to withdraw the funds were unsuccessful.

“She was told that she needed to top up her investment by RM200,000 in order to withdraw the accumulated profit,” he said.
