DARO: Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, has urged the Public Works Department (PWD) to consider increasing the number of ferries at Batang Paloh and the Batang Igan Bridge.

He said that with the completion and opening of the Muara Lassa Bridge to the public, traffic is expected to concentrate on these two ferry routes.

“Therefore, I request that more ferries be added in these areas, as the bridge in this area is still under construction,” he said when met by reporters after the soft launch of the Muara Lassa Bridge today (Jan 9).

Meanwhile, regarding both the Batang Paloh and Batang Igan bridges, he said that they would be completed by the end of this year or early next year.

Earlier, Aidel said that with the construction of the Muara Lassa Bridge, costing a total of RM600 million, now completed, ferry services at Muara Lassa have also bid farewell.
