SARIKEI: Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has allocated an additional RM100,000 this year for the improvement of facilities at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tinggi Sarikei through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
To date, the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister has contributed a total of RM750,000 to SMK Tinggi Sarikei through RTP and various other channels to support the development of the school.
Huang, who is Sarikei Member of Parliament and Repok assemblyman, visited the school today to assess development needs, and listen to a project proposal presentation by the SMK Tinggi Sarikei Management Board chairman, Dr Chieng King Chong.
According to records, the RTP allocation for this school was RM120,000 in 2016, RM100,000 in both 2019 and 2020, RM80,000 in 2021, RM50,000 in 2022, and RM100,000 for the years 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Dr Chieng also expressed his gratitude to Huang for his continuous support in upgrading the school’s facilities and infrastructure.
He also revealed that Huang had made personal contributions to further enhance the school’s development.
He emphasised that Huang is deeply committed to educational development, not only in terms of physical facilities but also in caring for the welfare of the students.
Under his guidance, students at SMK Tinggi Sarikei have received sponsorships for uniforms, shoes and school bags, easing the financial burden on parents.
Dr Chieng described Huang as a dedicated, diligent and wholehearted public representative who continuously serves the well-being of the people in the Repok and Meradong areas.
