KUCHING: The Youth Wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) has urged Malaysia to adopt Sarawak’s model of governance, which emphasises political stability, racial and religious harmony, and inclusive development.

The call echoes PBB Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who highlighted that pervasive politics in Peninsular Malaysia have hampered national unity and progress, in contrast to Sarawak’s stable political environment.

“Political stability is paramount for Sarawak, and only through it can progress be achieved and unity preserved. This formula is tried, tested and proven,” the youth wing said in a statement on Friday.

The group also stressed that Sarawak remains fully committed to Malaysia’s cause, with the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg supporting all communities in the state.

On economic matters, the PBB youth reaffirmed Sarawak’s rights over its oil and gas resources.

They cited the Premier’s stance that both PETROS and PETRONAS must collaborate to develop the sector while nurturing local talent and exploring green industries.

“There should be no perception that Sarawak is ‘greedy’. The nation has benefitted from Sarawak’s resources and will continue to do so. A stronger Sarawak strengthens Malaysia,” the statement said.

The Youth Wing concluded that constructive dialogue between Sarawak and the federal government is key to aligning state autonomy with national interests, while promoting unity and tolerance across the country.
